I will always treasure special memories of Montine whom I became acquainted with when she was working in the County Court. My sincere sympathy, Gloria Thomas
We live in Albuquerque, New Mexico where each year in October we have what they call the annual Balloon Fiesta (which is going on right now). Montine was very interested in the hot air balloons and she and Roger came to Albuquerque on two different years to the annual Fiesta. She always called before hand and we would set up a time we could at least go out and eat with them while they were here. She loved life and lived it to the fullest she was able.
My aunt Lillie sewed pretty clothes, and Montine sent me several boxes of her hand-me-downs to her cousin,me, who wore them with pride. We lived so far apart and our lives didn't cross each other's paths much but there was always love and she visited my husband and I several times,so she also had visits with my mother,(Ruby, who was a sister to Lillie). We'll all see each other again if the Good Lord is willing someday. God Bless all Montines Family. Rudine
There are soooooooo many fun stories that one can share about Montine. While going to nursing school at Otero, I spent time with both my grandma and Roger and Montine. I would go down to the clerks office and go home with Montine. While I was waiting for her to get off of work, she would always have the judge going and getting him worked up; it worked the other way too. I also remember the time when the family came to visit while I was going to school and Kevin had this tape we just had to hear. We were upstairs and Montine slowly came up the stairs to our surprise. Well, Eddie Murphy was NOT the ideal person to listen to due to the language, of course. We all turned red in the face needless to say. She was also there for me during school after my mom died. She always encouraged me to go forward and supported me in any way she could. I will dearly miss her and will always remember the laughs she could bring.
