Meet Ken
Ken Torres - Las Animas County Commissioner
A sixth-generation Las Animas County resident, I was born in 1965 to Manuel and Irene Torres. My family was recognized by Friends of Historical Trinidad in 2001 as a Century Family, a distinction given only to those families with a 100 year plus history in Las Animas County.

With my wife Robin and my three children Kendra (15), Kayla (10), and Kyndal (7), I currently reside at the Torres Valley Ranch west of Trinidad, an area homesteaded by my great-great-grandfather in 1856, where I continue to farm, ranch, and raise cattle.   (Family Pictures)

Growing up in Trinidad, I attended area schools and graduated from Trinidad High School in 1983. I was very active in football and track, lettering four years in both sports and earning all-conference and all-state honors.

Attending Metro State College in Denver, I received a B.S. in Civil Engineering. After marrying Robin and settling back in Las Animas County, I accepted a position with the City of Trinidad as an engineer in 1995, where I planned and oversaw many municipal building projects and gained an understanding of budgeting, funding, and executing various public works.

In November of 2000, I was elected to serve on the board of Las Animas County Commissioners. Re-elected to this position in 2004, I continue to serve the citizens of Las Animas County and look forward to expanding this service to southeastern Colorado and the residents of House District 64.
